DOXOLOGY: The Lutheran Center for Spiritual Care and Counsel, is a Recognized Service Organization of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, is comprised of pastors, counselors and laity from various walks of life who are committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially as God gives it through the Holy Ministry.
DOXOLOGY’s main focus is to offer an innovative program of advanced study retreats to strengthen participants for the task of faithfully shepherding the souls entrusted to their care.
DOXOLOGY provides a unique study and renewal experience, rooted in the classic art of the care of souls (cura animarum) and informed by the insights of contemporary Christian psychology.
Meet the Doxology Team:
The Rev. David C. Fleming is DOXOLOGY’s Executive Director for Spiritual Care and a Collegium Fellow. He remains a part time pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church and School in Grand Rapids, MI where he served as Senior Pastor from 1993-2019. He previously served in Warrenville, IL, a Chicago suburb, and is a 1986 graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, IN. In 2011 he received the Rev. John B. Zwers Award from the Michigan Association of Non-public Schools for support of Lutheran Schools. He served as president of the Board of Directors at West Michigan Lutheran High School and currently serves on the Concordia University Wisconsin Board of Regents. Rev. Fleming co-wrote “God’s Love at Christmas”, the 2010 Advent-Christmas resource from Concordia Publishing House. He has been privileged to serve church workers throughout the United States; Ghana, West Africa; Latvia; and Germany. Fleming and his wife, Jo Marie, née Wunderlich, have three children and two granddaughters.
Dr. Beverly Yahnke is a clinical psychologist serving DOXOLOGY as the Executive Director for Christian Counsel. From 2010-2015, she was the Chair and Professor of Psychology at Concordia Wisconsin. Previously, Dr. Yahnke spent over 20 years in private practice serving church workers and their families in the clinical group she founded in Milwaukee. Dr. Yahnke has written numerous articles about psychology, education and faith, and is a frequently invited speaker for clergy and educator conferences. In May 2016, Concordia Theological Seminary awarded her with the Doctor of Humane Letters Degree, Honoris Causa. She was elected by the 2016 LCMS convention to serve as a member of Concordia Theological Seminary’s Board of Regents.
Our FIRST-EVER Pre-Conference
Jon Dize – The Lutheran SGO will be offering a free two hour pre-conference session on Tuesday before the conference for school staff and volunteers who are responsible for SGO-related functions. The first half of the session will be led by Jon Dize, administrator, and will be focused on fundraising and how the recent changes in the legislation may affect your efforts. The second half will be led by Lynn Stegmann, Data Processing Manager, and will be focused on the Go.SGO database, accessing your giving history, and the application process. This pre-conference will be beneficial for those new to an SGO management role as well as a refresher for those currently responsible for SGO-related activities and/or fundraising.”
