We Lift Up in Prayer – Week of January 7, 2019

Published on January 7th, 2019

We give thanks for new life – a son, Oliver Dean was born to Teacher Elizabeth & her husband Coty Stark, St John-Emmanuel, Monroeville IN.  He joins big brother Hunter.   Grandparents are Rev. Doug & teacher Debbie Christian (St John, Monroeville.)

For the family of Karen Geiger, (principal Holy Cross, Indianapolis) whose father passed into his heavenly home right before Christmas.  We pray for God’s peace and comfort during these times of loss.

For Jabez, a student at St Paul, Munster, who has had 16 surgeries due to a birth defect in his hips and legs and is facing another surgery in March.  We are praying this will be the last one and we rejoice in his determination and witness to those around him.

For principal David Wippich, St John, LaPorte, who is on disability at this time, and for St John’s Lutheran School as they are being served by interim Lynn Johnson.

For Rachelle Mertz, former teacher at Mount Calvary Lutheran, Fort Wayne, who has a brain tumor, is now in hospice care.  Her last day teaching was in March, and she pursued several more treatment options through October.  Rachelle is a wonderful young Christian woman who had such a dedication in our Lutheran community for early childhood education.  She and her father have a strong and close connection with her church, Emmanuel on Wayne Trace (Fort Wayne). Her mother passed away a year ago in November and she has this reunion with her mom to look forward to now.

For schools calling principals:

  • St Paul Lutheran, Bremen IN
  • Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran, Fort Wayne IN
  • St Peter’s Lutheran, Fort Wayne IN
  • Redeemer Lutheran, Kokomo IN

Send your prayer requests to amy.mews@in.lcms.org  – let us as a community of believers lift each other up in prayer & thanksgiving!
