One down, one to go!

On Wednesday, January 18, 2017, the University Lutheran Church relocation plans received unanimous approval from the Area Plan Commission of Tippecanoe County. The first of two approvals necessary for the project to continue, this green light is keeping the project on track as #ULuOnTheMove progresses at its well-planned pace.

The project, which will position the ministry for expanded outreach and increased visibility among Purdue University students, will relocate University Lutheran Church to the former Exponent building located at 460 Northwestern Avenue, directly across from the Purdue University Engineering Mall.

Because the property was zoned for a specific purpose, namely the printing of the student newspaper, the Indiana District of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod needed to go back through the Tippecanoe County Area Planning Commission to change the building usage to campus ministry/church use and obtain approval from both the West Lafayette City Council and Tippecanoe County Council.

The project will now come before the West Lafayette City Council on Monday, February 6, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Morton School, 222 North Chauncey Avenue, West Lafayette, Indiana.
