You have probably noticed a surge of scam emails, phone calls, and letters over the past few years. It seems to be everywhere! Unfortunately, our district office has been dealing with a pretty steady stream of such issues, as well. The most recent scam emails have been more detailed and seem to be at least a bit more plausible and “better written” than some of the others have been. Please be careful!
SO WHAT CAN YOU DO? We have 3 things to keep in mind:
- District office staff and board members will NEVER ask you to send money or gift cards, asking you to “handle something” on our behalf.
- Check the original sender email address. All official email from the district office will end with @in.lcms.org. If that isn’t the ending of the email address, even if the rest of the address looks legitimate, DELETE IT!
