Preparing for Eternal Life: A Gift for Your Family

Planning for the end of life can be difficult to think about, but thoughtful preparation can be one of the greatest gifts we give our families. Knowing that important decisions have been made ahead of time can bring peace of mind and relieve loved ones of added stress during an already difficult season.

Trinity Lutheran Church in Crown Point invites you to “Preparing for Eternal Life: A Gift for Your Family,” a special morning workshop on Saturday, October 10, from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

The morning will begin with registration from 8:30–9:00 a.m., with coffee, tea, and pastries available. From 9:00 a.m. throughout the morning, you will hear from several knowledgeable speakers who will address important aspects of end-of-life planning. Each presentation will be approximately 25 minutes in length.

Our presenters include:

  • Pastor Cory Wielert, who will discuss funeral arrangements and planning from our church’s perspective
  • A representative from Thrivent, who will address practical financial and personal decisions that need to be made when a loved one dies
  • Arthur Stark from Hospice of the Calumet in Munster, who will explain hospice options and the support hospice can provide to individuals and families
  • An attorney from O’Drobinak & Nowaczyk will provide information about wills and estate planning
  • Giesen Funeral Home’s presentation “Working with Your Funeral Home to Plan Your Funeral”

The morning will conclude with a brief panel discussion and time for questions, giving participants an opportunity to explore topics that may not have been covered during the individual presentations.

This workshop is designed for adults of all ages—not simply those who are facing an immediate need. Whether you are beginning to think about these matters for yourself, helping an aging parent, or simply want to make sure your family knows your wishes, this morning can provide helpful information and peace of mind.

Bring your friends, neighbors, and other acquaintances. You do not need to be Lutheran—or even a member of a church—to attend. Everyone is welcome.

Preparing ahead of time is not about focusing on death; it is about loving our families well, making our wishes known, and giving those we leave behind the gift of clarity and peace. Come learn. Come ask questions. Leave ready to prepare and to provide your family with peace of mind.

This workshop is FREE, but RSVPs are requested. To sign up, please call the church at 219-663-1578 or CLICK HERE.
