Pulpit Supply
The Indiana District Office maintains a Pulpit Supply list as a resource for pastors and congregations who need occasional help covering worship and other pastoral duties. This list is a frequently-used and much-appreciated aid to many of our congregations. We love to be able to keep our Pulpit Supply list as full and current as possible, and encourage all pastors who are willing and able to be added to our ever-growing list of available men. The list is organized by city name and includes the name, phone number, and city of each pastor, along with whether or not they would be available for longer-term assistance or willing to travel a bit further on occasion, etc.
Whether you would like to be added to the pulpit supply list OR are in need of help for your congregation, please contact the President’s Office at 260.423.1511, ext. 2204, or email presidentsoffice@in.lcms.org for assistance.
Pastor Information Updates / Changes
We want to hear from you when you have contact information updates or important changes in your life! Please let us know when you change positions, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, when there are additions to the family or you have additional educational information to add to your file. We appreciate being able to update our in-house database, add to your file, keep in contact, and keep you in our prayers!
Pastors are also to review the information on their PIFs periodically – every year would be great, but at least every 3 years. You can review your PIF and SET and update your contact information and other details with synod all in one spot by logging on to the LISN for Church Workers (LCW) site at https://lcw.lcms.org/ If you need assistance with login, please hit the “Need help logging in?” button and Rosters and Statistics will assist. For other questions about LCW, contact the President’s Office at 260.423.1511, ext. 2204 or by emailing presidentsoffice@in.lcms.org.
Book of Concord Online
Concordia Publishing House (CPH) has launched the Book of Concord Online, a free digital resource providing easy access to the Lutheran Confessions at bookofconcord.cph.org. This newly developed website makes the historic documents of the Book of Concord—the confessional foundation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church—available to pastors, teachers, students, and laypeople through a modern, user-friendly platform. Designed for clarity, accessibility, and study, the site allows users to seamlessly navigate through all major confessional texts.
Doxology
Doxology offers an innovative program of advanced study retreats to strengthen pastors for the task of faithfully shepherding the souls entrusted to their care.
The primary purpose of Doxology is to provide training, mentoring and consultation services for pastors seeking to enhance their ability to help people struggling with the ever-increasing personal, family and social complexities of contemporary life.
Doxology strengthens pastors so they can more faithfully pastor others.
For more information about Doxology, as well as a variety of resources for Pastors, visit the Doxology website here.
Preach the Word
Synod has developed the “Preach the Word” video series to provide pastors with encouragement and fresh ideas. Preach the Word (PTW) will help pastors work together to improve their preaching through video modules with accompanying resources and by interacting with seminary professors and fellow preachers. Pastors can gather with brother pastors to watch and discuss the modules. The power of the Lutheran Reformation was the Word of God. Pastors may commemorate the Reformation by honing their vocation of proclaiming the Gospel.
Please visit https://resources.lcms.org/preach-the-word/ for these resources.
PALS Program
For recent graduates from the seminaries, you may want to consider taking advantage of the PALS program.
PALS (Post-Seminary Applied Learning and Support) is a collaborative effort of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and our districts. PALS is intended to help pastors and their wives transition from seminary to congregation.
PALS regularly brings together groups of recent graduates of our seminaries throughout the first three years of their ministries. In these meetings, the new pastors worship, study and discuss new ministry experiences in the company of an experienced pastor.
For more information on PALS, learn more here.
Read the September 2026 edition of the PALS newsletter here.
