The Word of God encourages us to share the Gospel of Christ with those who don’t know Him as their personal Lord and Savior. Furthermore, we are not all called to be pastors. But a Lutheran pastor is needed to begin this new mission in order that he might begin to baptize and teach those who are not Christians in Richmond, Kentucky.
Jesus says in Matthew 28:18-20 these words: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Mat 28:19-20 ESV)
The work is clear. An outreach to the students at Eastern Kentucky University who don’t know Christ is needed. So also, outreach to the unbelievers in the Richmond, Kentucky community is needed.
The way is also clear. We all can’t be in Richmond, Kentucky to do this but we all can help with our offerings and with our prayers for this mission outreach. Many people have already responded by praying and supporting this mission endeavor financially. Thanks to those of you who have done so. Let me share with you wonderful news.
God indeed works in wondrous ways! Thanks be to God for the love His disciples have for the mission of the Gospel of Christ Jesus. God has blessed the Outreach Kentucky endeavor with a generous donation of $25,000.00 from a Christian couple who saw the Outreach Kentucky video. This couple desires to remain anonymous but they did give me permission to share with you their thoughts concerning Outreach Kentucky.
Here is what they wrote: “After watching the video about the LCMS–IN District’s Outreach Kentucky initiative, my husband and I were deeply moved to help support this important outreach effort. Our hearts especially ache for the college students at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY who claim in the video to not know Christ. It is apparent that the harvest fields are ripe for sowing the seeds of pure Gospel truth and comfort in this part of our District which does not have an LCMS presence. It is our sincere prayer that our gift may provide a portion of the funds needed to place a pastor there in the immediate future for the care of many souls.”
I also want you to know that a businessman contacted me this week. He lives in Richmond, Kentucky and is not a Lutheran but he is interested in seeing this mission go forward. Hopefully in the not too distant future he will be part of the mission congregation gathered to share the Gospel message of Christ at Eastern Kentucky University and the town of Richmond, Kentucky.
As of July 2, 2019 we have received $92,069.13, towards the goal of raising $150,000.00 for Outreach Kentucky. As soon as we have the $150,000.00 in the bank we will move forward with calling a missionary to develop this mission in Richmond, Kentucky.
Will you support this mission with your prayers and with your donations? In Richmond, Kentucky the harvest field is white! Help the Indiana District Board of Directors place a missionary in this part of the Indiana District – LCMS. Please support this endeavor!
