MANY CELEBRATE WITH PASTOR SOE MOE AT HIS ORDINATION

Fort Wayne – Pastor Soe Moe was officially ordained into the Ministry of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) and installed as the Pastor of Youth & Mission at Southwest Lutheran Church during a special Worship on a beautiful Saturday afternoon on July 22nd.

Nearly two hundred people attended the Worship and celebration outside under a large tent in the front lawn of Southwest Lutheran Church. Over one dozen area clergy participated in the ceremony including New Life Lutheran Church senior pastor and Lutheran Agency for Missions to Burmese (LAMB) founder Rev James Keller, who gave the Message, and Indiana District of the LCMS President Rev Dr D Richard Stuckwisch, who presided over the Ordination and Installation. The Worship was translated into the Sgaw Karen dialect for attendees. Several songs were also sung in Sgaw Karen with Pastor Soe joining in with the final choir group. The crowd then enjoyed a meal with many ethnic Burmese dishes including chicken kabobs, fried rice, egg rolls, noodles and pad thai. Western favorites, like pizza and sloppy joes, were also enjoyed along with fresh baked desserts and cake.

The following day, on Sunday, July 23rd, Pastor Soe led the entire Worship including giving the Message as well as performing the Absolution of sins and consecrating the Eucharist for the first time. Following Worship, he presided over a small ceremony that was held to dedicate a Memory Garden created to remember Pastor David Maki and all those who made the Southwest Lutheran Congregation possible.

Pastor Soe completed his program of pastoral formation in the Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology (EIIT) at Concordia Seminary (Saint Louis). This specialized program of preparation is for men who want to serve as pastors in immigrant and ethnic minority communities in North America.
