Mannerchor Comes to Fort Wayne

Published on December 2nd, 2016

Twenty-nine years ago the Male Chorus of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, Frankenmuth, Michigan combined forces with their counterpart from St. John Lutheran Church, Rochester, Michigan to form a large choir, and they went on to sing one Sunday in January in each other’s churches for 17 years.   Gradually, other Mannerchorcongregations joined their ranks.  Today, three additional Michigan
churches. Faith, Grand Blanc, St. Stephen, Waterford, and Christ Our Savior, Livonia along with Holy Cross here in Fort Wayne have swelled the ranks to form a Mannerchor upwards of 80 singers.

We are happy to share that this year’s Mannerchor will come to Fort Wayne for the first time, tape for Worship for Shut-ins on January 14, and then sing at the 8:15 & 10:30 a.m. services at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne on Sunday, January 15.  Various hymns and anthems will be offered that morning including a recently new Thaxted tune arrangement of the Te Deum by Kantor Kevin Hildebrand, Concordia Theological Seminary.  Kantor Hildebrand will also be the guest organist for those services along with brass and timpani.  Jonathan Busarow, Executive Artistic Director for the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, will serve as guest soloist.  All are invited to be uplifted by the Spirit through music and the Word as Holy Cross’s Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Thomas Ahlersmeyer will share the Gospel found in John 1:38, 39, “What are you seeking?  Come, and you will see”.
