Lutheran Church Charities and the Indiana District Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) are partnering to provide chainsaw assistance to the residents of Merrillville in wake of the June 11th tornado.
Sign-ups are available for June 16th through June 27th, and housing will be provided for a limited number of volunteers by Trinity, Crown Point.
This is a CHAINSAW deployment, for those LERT volunteers who have been certified as an operator or dragger. For more information, and to register, please visit this link: https://www.lcms-lert.org/need/detail/?need_id=1274792
If you and/or your community would benefit from a LERT deployment due to the June 11th storms, or you are interested in completing a Basic or Chainsaw LERT Training so that you can stand ready to assist after future natural disasters, please contact Bethany at bethany.neumann@in.lcms.org to be put into contact with your nearest District Disaster Response Coordinator/Trainer.
