LAMP Reaching out in Shamattawa, Manitoba

Published on March 7th, 2018

This year started out with a plethora of ministry opportunities in the North for teams and LAMP Ministry’s Pastor-Pilot, Dennis Ouellette of Indiana.  In January, he made his third winter trip to the remote northern community of Shamattawa, Manitoba where he met up with LAMP’s Vacation Bible School team from Fergus Falls, MN.  Since the team’s summer visit, a number of school staffing changes had occurred.  Hence, they were unsure of the reception they’d receive; however, expectations were exceeded! God opened doors for building relationships with the new principal, vice-principal and a number of adults from the community.  Their group stayed at the school and was busy every day in the classrooms singing, reading a devotion, and teaching the kids how to pray.  Two supporting churches had donated gloves and knitted hats that the team was able to distribute.  As well, the team hosted an appreciation dinner for school staff and gave gift bags to teachers, assistants, bus drivers, and administrators.  With much gratitude, the school staff presented the team and Pastor Dennis with a homemade card personally signed by each with notes of thanks.  The relationship with the people of Shamattawa is even deeper than before!
