IN District RSO Spotlight – The Lutheran Foundation

As a Recognized Service Organization (RSO), The Lutheran Foundation (TLF) exhibits many characteristics of an RSO by faithfully serving the congregations, schools, and ministry organizations of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) in northeast Indiana. TLF helps these ministries carry out their vital work through grant funding and other resources. TLF awarded more than $6 million to Lutheran organizations in the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
TLF was established in 1995 following the sale of the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Through wise financial stewardship, TLF has grown its original corpus of $136 million while awarding more than $223 million in grants since inception. God has truly blessed the work of TLF.
In addition to supporting Lutheran organizations, TLF partners with Christ-centered nonprofit organizations that demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ by serving the needs of individuals and families in both body, mind, and spirit.
As TLF celebrates its 30th year of service this year, it looks forward to continuing to be a vital resource for nonprofit organizations in the ten counties of northeast Indiana. Beyond awarding grants, TLF offers endowment services, scholarships for nursing and other health-related professions.
TLF is owned by 91 Member Lutheran Congregations in northeast Indiana, which elects the Board of Directors and approves Grant Guidelines. Day-to-day operations are overseen by its President & CEO, Mark Dixon, alongside a dedicated team of seven staff members.
