Please Support our Mission Outreach Together We Can Make a Difference!

The Indiana District seeks, by God’s grace, to reach all people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ — including the urban center of Gary, Indiana.

“God has a plan for Gary, and he invites us to be a part of that future,” says Rev. Delwyn Campbell. “We want to be a beacon of hope. Whether it’s at school, or at church, or in our rehabilitation centers, we want to be witnesses of Christ’s love and proclaimers of His truth. Gary, Indiana is our mission field. The harvest is plentiful. Will you join us in this work?”

Domestic Missionary

Rev. Delwyn Campbell serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as a national (domestic) missionary in Gary, Ind. In this role, he leads the development of missionary outreach and supports the health and growth of the current Lutheran population in the area. Rev. Campbell provides pastoral care through Word and Sacrament ministry to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and to other area congregations as needed. His goal is to not only proclaim the Gospel to Gary residents, but also offer pastoral care to members of the community by sharing the Gospel with them and ministering to their needs.

Transitional Housing

Rebuilding the Breach Ministries serves to heed the description of the people of God as described in Isaiah 58 by restoring hope to individuals and families while bringing lasting change to the community. Through Bible study and pastoral counseling along with life-skill and job training we provide life-changing opportunities to at-risk individuals with histories of addiction and families struggling in poverty. The ministry reaches out to the community with food and clothing distribution, and offers spiritual guidance to the wider Gary community.

Lutheran School

Lutheran education returned to Gary with the opening of Ascension Lutheran Christian School in 2017. Ascension offers a traditional Christian education with rigorous academics, character building and faith development, teaching and leading from a Christian worldview. Ascension integrates biblical truth throughout a curriculum built on reading, math and other core subjects. Ascension nurtures all students for optimal spiritual, intellectual and emotional growth. The school is nationally accredited by AdvancEd and is pursuing National Lutheran Schools Accreditation. Ascension participates in the Indiana Choice Scholarship program.
