This is the week of EPIPHANY! Epiphany puts things into perspective! Listen to the words of Simeon as he holds Jesus in his arms, “‘Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.’ The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him.” Luke 2:20-33

Simeon saw the Savior which is the LIGHT for revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of Israel! Epiphany is a time for us to “ponder” as did Mary and “see” as did Simeon what God gives us in His Son! In blustery Indiana we contemplate the gift of our salvation and see Jesus revealed as our Redeemer. The miracles of Jesus are remembered during the Epiphany season beginning with the wedding at Cana.

We also see the mission field as we remember that this is a LIGHT for revelation to the Gentiles and the Glory of Israel! In other words this is the GIFT for everyone! Since we know and have this GIFT, we also have the opportunity and privilege of sharing it with the world. 2017 is a new year to do that with great joy. Look the fields are white for harvest (and we are not talking snow). We have friends, neighbors and relatives that need to hear what is burning in our hearts!
