Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage–with great patience and careful instruction. 2Ti 4:2
The liturgical calendar and pericopes are great! They provide an opportunity for us to lead people through the Scriptures in a planned and thoughtful manner as we prepare sermons, classroom religion classes and Bible studies! While not required (A particular precipice program) they do provide a discipline for us to present the whole counsel of God over the course of the year.
These next few weeks lead us to the celebration of Christ the King as we conclude the year and consider the end time! And then, before the month is out we begin the season of Advent! The eschatological themes of Advent are filled with repentance, prophecy, fulfillment and joy! And before you know it we are celebrating the Incarnation!
This is a busy time of the year that moves quickly and is characterized by anticipation and promise. I know that all of you are going to be very busy in the next month as you, your family and your congregation/school try to fit it all into a variety of schedules! Please take personal time to “ponder in your heart” the beauty and grace that is ours in Jesus Christ. Remember His mercy and His forgiveness are for you as well as those you serve! Let us pray for and encourage one another as we begin this new year together! May we also “give thanks to God with a grateful heart!”
For what thanksgiving can we return to God for you, for all the joy that we feel for your sake before our God, as we pray most earnestly night and day that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking in your faith? Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you, and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you, so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. 1Th 3:9-13
God always prepares our hearts and our people with His strong Word of hope – no matter what the season! The beginning of a new Church year is reason to give thanks and prepare! God bless your worship, preach and teaching!
May God bless each of you and your congregations in sharing the truth of the Scripture and the joy of our salvation!
In Christ, Daniel
May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
