Education

The Office of Christian Education for the Indiana District supports the district’s congregations and schools by serving them as institutions, providing administrative responsibilities to the District and Synod. The office acts as an advocate for National Lutheran School Accreditation and a liaison with the Indiana Department of Education, fulfilling the role of “Superintendent of Schools” for state accreditation and the Indiana Choice Scholarship Program. The office is responsible for keeping up to date on legal, curricular, and legislative issues, and acts as a listener, advisor, and reconciler for school personnel and boards. The office helps manage data for schools and school personnel and assists congregations and schools with the process of extending divine Calls for commissioned ministers.

The Executive of Christian Education also supports professional church workers by participating in meetings with administrators and visiting schools to encourage faculty and staff. The office maintains official Call records for all commissioned ministers and provides timely assistance for issues related to the professional and personal lives of church workers. In addition, the office focuses on non-school ministries for all congregations, including Youth and Family Ministries.
