On Thursday and Friday, Lutherans will gather from throughout Indiana and northern Kentucky at the Grand Wayne Center to prayerfully consider our work together. As we do every three years, we will share ministry reports, elect leaders, and vote on important matters. Clergy and lay delegates will represent every congregation in our District.
The theme for this Convention comes from Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
As we come together this week to consider God’s plans for the Indiana District, we’ll be presented with several important resolutions related to outreach efforts. Our congregations and church members will be invited to participate financially in sharing the hope we have Christ.
Rev. Delwyn Campbell returned to his hometown of Gary, Indiana this year as a missionary and to serve the congregation of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (the oldest church in northwest Indiana). Resources are needed for congregational ministry, transitional housing programs, and ongoing community outreach.
Ascension Lutheran Christian School
Lutheran education is an integral part of our outreach to Gary, Indiana. This year, Ascension opened kindergarten through grade 2. The LUMIN school is accredited by AdvancEd. Additional resources are needed to fund operations and student scholarships.
The Indiana District seeks, by God’s grace, to reach all people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Your financial support helps make our work possible.
I have served as president of the Indiana District for 15 years. In that time, we’ve accomplished much as we’ve worked together — one in spirit and purpose. As we look ahead to the next triennium, these outreach initiatives are the most important tasks facing our District. I ask that you prayerfully and faithfully support these efforts. Many thanks.
