Blessed New Year

This time of the year we most often we hear “Happy New Year” as a greeting from others. Let me tell you why I want to wish you a “Blessed New Year.” “Happy” comes from the word “happenings.” Not everything in our lives makes us happy. 2020 has been a good example of that. What is even worse is when we contribute to hurtful happenings with our sinful actions.

“Blessed” refers to the distinctive spiritual joy that is only found in Jesus.  That is something that can never be taken away no matter what happens in the world around us. It covers all of the sins in the world. Through our faith in Christ we are blessed to be a blessing!!

Prayer: Jesus thank you for coming to earth to save us from our sins. Thank you for giving a faith that can totally trust you for our salvation. Help us to be a blessing by using the gifts with which you have blessed us and the Word that empowers us.  Amen
