Convention/Father’s Day

Published on June 13th, 2018

Next Sunday is Father’s Day!  While families are often stumped when trying to decide if dad needs another tie or not, it is a good thing to celebrate.  Brats and burgers will usually do along with a piece of child art.  Don’t worry about the present for dad, but do thank Him for being present!  We know that is not true for every family.  In our fallen world we see all kinds of brokenness.  Yet, those who have spiritually healthy and caring fathers should rejoice and young lads may well plan to be men of God when they grow up and if it is God’s plan be a husband and father!  By the way, Judy and I celebrated our anniversary on June 5th!  What a blessing she is to me and we rejoice in the gift God has given us in our family!  This is our greatest earthly treasure.

Before we get to Father’s Day we will be squeezing in our Indiana District Convention under he theme, “God’s Plan our Future and Hope”!  Tonight the Floor Committee chairmen are meeting to review the schedule for tomorrow and to make sure we have all of our details in place for a good convention!  We will hear from President Harrison, vote on a variety of resolutions and elect 80 plus leaders for the next triennium.  We will elect a new District President and we will hear greetings from a variety of people.  On Friday afternoon we will conclude the convention with a service of Holy Communion at historic St. Paul on Barr Street!  At that service we will install all elected leaders except the presidium (They will be installed on Sept. 9)

We pray God’s blessing on our convention knowing that he indeed has plans for us and for our district and that is our future and our hope!  After the convention it will be time for family and for Father’s Day!
