This year Concordia Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, celebrates 125 years of ministry in NE Indiana. Special services, congregational events, and concerts are planned throughout the year to mark this special milestone. As part of this, Concordia is hosting a free concert of of The Singing Saints of Saint Paul Lutheran High School, of Concordia, Missouri starting at 7:00 EST on March 1. The Singing Saints of Saint Paul choir is on its annual domestic tour, singing this year on a nine-day tour through the Midwest and East Coast parts of the United States. They will be performing in Perryville and Columbia, MO; Maryville and Loudon, TN; Asheville, NC; Richmond and Ashburn, VA; Silver Spring, MD, and Ft. Wayne, IN. The touring choir is made up of 46 students from the 60+ voice concert choir and they will be performing a varied program that includes classic German choral works by Mendelssohn, Bruckner, and Haydn, as well as some hymns, anthems and spirituals.
The first half of the program will feature works based exclusively on Psalm texts and it also includes a piece by the women’s and the men’s choruses. The award-winning choir is under the direction of Dr. Jerrode Marsh. The concert is free, but donations are kindly requested to help cover expenses for their tour. Saint Paul Lutheran High School is the only remaining LCMS residential high school in the United States, located in central Missouri, about an hour east of Kansas City.
