Celebrating the Ministry of Deaconess Carole Terkula

With deep gratitude and appreciation, The Lutheran Foundation (TLF) announces that Deaconess Carole Terkula will conclude her service with TLF on May 30, 2025. This transition comes as part of TLF’s ongoing shift in ministry priorities, with a renewed focus on equipping congregations through leadership development, strategic planning, and – most importantly – the faithful proclamation of Word and Sacrament.  Our goal remains clear: to support congregations in caring for their members and being a compassionate, Christ-centered presence in their communities.

Over the past five years, Carole has been a tireless and passionate advocate for mental health and wellness in both church and community settings.  Her leadership has helped train nearly 100 Mental Health Advocates (MHAs), provided countless workshops and continuing education opportunities, and developed a rich library of faith-based mental health resources through the LookUp Indiana website.  Her dedication has touched many lives and created a strong foundation for continued ministry in this vital area.

We are excited to share that Cross Connections Counseling Ministry, under the leadership of Mr. Kirk Reber, will carry this important work forward.  They will oversee the LookUp Indiana website and provide ongoing support for MHAs. More information about this transition will be communicated directly by Cross Connections.

As Carole looks to new opportunities to serve the Lord’s Church, we offer her our heartfelt thanks and prayers.  Her time at TLF has been marked by grace, wisdom, and compassion – and we are confident that her next chapter will be just as impactful.

We also thank the many ministry partners and individuals who have journeyed with us in this mission.  By God’s grace, the seeds planted through this shared work will continue to grow and bear much fruit in the years to come.
