The Indiana District is pleased to welcome Aaron Nielsen as the administrative assistant to the education executive. He is stepping into the role formerly held by Amy Mews who retired at the end of last year. Collaborating with Dr. Kevin Brockberg, executive counselor for Christian education, Aaron’s responsibilities include resourcing and assisting congregations and schools for ministry throughout Indiana and northern Kentucky.
Aaron was born in Fort Wayne and was baptized at Concordia Lutheran Church. He attended both Zion Lutheran School and St. Paul’s before moving to St. Louis. After graduating with a BA in Business from Robert Morris, he worked as the administrative assistant for disaster relief at the LCMS International Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Aaron hopes to integrate his Synod experience with his business knowledge to benefit schools and congregations across the district.
“When I saw this position, I thought it was a great opportunity to use the skills I have thus far,” Aaron said. “I’m eager to learn about the successes and challenges that schools face today.”
Aaron is joined by his wife, Kezia, and his four sons. Because their family has a passion for connecting Lutherans and “making the Lutheran world smaller,” Aaron and his wife open their home to Lutheran travelers through a Lutheran home sharing website. Additionally, Aaron has been involved in Toastmasters International in the Lutheran Church.
In his new position at the Indiana District, Aaron hopes that he can “strengthen and encourage the schools for years to come.”
