District office makes Christmas a little brighter for Lutheran Social Services’ clients

For years, the Indiana District-LCMS staff has sponsored a family through the annual Christmas Family Program with Lutheran Social Services of Indiana (LSSI). This year was no exception, with one slight change. Rather than adopting just one family and purchasing items on that family’s wish list, the staff decided to make monetary contributions instead, which LSSI can put to use where needed most in fulfilling their Christmas mission. In addition, the district provided a matching contribution, which created a one-lump-sum donation from the district office.

“We decided to pool our resources and hopefully make an even bigger impact,” says Ron Bleke, finance executive. The donation includes 100% district staff participation, plus contributions from Congregation Service Assistance workers (CSAs) and Lutheran Scholarship Granting Organization staff. “We have a good working relationship with LSSI,” says Ron, “and we feel it’s important to support their mission of service to their clients. These are families who work hard throughout the year to reach their goals of economic and family stability. It’s a pleasure to bless them at Christmastime.”

It’s a gift that makes a positive impact for LSSI families. “We are grateful for the partnership we share with the LCMS District Office,” says Angela Moellering, LSSI president and chief executive officer. “The generosity demonstrated by the district office staff makes a difference for our families working toward economic stability and helps them to provide Christmas for their children!”
