Let us rejoice and be glad that God has blessed us with this New Year of 2017. Will it be a year of economic boon? Will it be a year of difficulty and strife? I can’t answer those questions. But I can state that for the Christian it will be a year in which God works all things out to his or her ultimate good. St. Paul reminds us of this truth when he writes by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28 ESV)
But how does one come to love God? This happens as the Holy Spirit converts a person to true faith in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit calls a person into true faith by working through the Gospel message. This message must be proclaimed. St. Paul also writes: So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17 ESV)
There are many who don’t know Christ Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I urge you to share the Gospel message with those whom you know are not Christian and invite them to come to your church so that they might hear the Gospel proclaimed week after week by your pastor.
