Purpose of these workshops: Life together is not always easy in the Body of Christ. Even when we have the best of intentions, there are times when our individual experiences are so completely different from one another that we can find it difficult to relate in a healthy way. These workshops are designed to help the Christian to overcome those things that sometimes cause others to become isolated or even alienated in the Church.
This year’s speakers and topics:
Peace: Developing mental health sanctuaries in an anxious world.
A conversation about engaging people who have mental illness led by Deaconess Chrissie Gillet who is the Lutheran’s for Life director of Word of Hope, a ministry that provides crisis care.
Dependability: Sharing the burdens of those with special needs in a self-centered world.
A conversation about engaging people who have developmental disabilities led by Mrs. Cheryl Swope who is the author of “Simply Classical: A Beautiful Education for Any Child” and the editor of the journal, “Simply Classical.” She has her masters in special education and has homeschooled her two, adopted twins who both have autism, learning disabilities, and schizophrenia.
Relieved: Offering rest to those who suffer with something the world can’t fix.
A conversation about engaging people who suffer from chronic illness or pain led by Rev. Michael Salemink who is the executive director of Lutheran’s for Life.
“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
